Why is Gold Bought?

While it is true that some people purchase gold in order to make a profit off of it, there is a tendency going on where many are keeping hold of their gold to keep a hold of the money they have, as a gold backing. In the United Sates in 1975, the private ownership of gold was made legalized for the first time since 1933 when Franklin D. Roosevelt was president. Nonetheless many, many people in Europe as well as in other places, have been adding to their own hoards for a long time now and been able to appreciate how the value maintains even though we have had many unstable currencies, devaluations, deficit financing, inflation, wars, etc, etc. Gold has served as a safe haven for many people that did not know what to do with their money in order to save it so that it would maintain its value, or even increase in value. The paper money we have in the world remains to be in an inflationary spiral and gold now stands as a haven for many. History has many stories of adventurers in past centuries that found new worlds in their search for this precious metal, gold. In the past, gold used to be considered an emblem of eternal life. Through the times, gold has been thought of and looked at as a sign of wealth, riches, and power. Gold is valuable due to its scarcity, luster, malleability; it does not tarnish, is non corrosive, compact and is a metal that can be valued forever. One of the world’s largest producers of gold is currently Canada. Canada minted the one ounce 99.9 percent pure, legal tender coin, known as the Maple Leaf. Gold panners and dredgers in the upper Rio Grande River in Colorado have obtained a good amount of gold ounces in the past years. In New Mexico, gold has been reportedly found in all of the counties that are right next to the Rio Grande and the Colorado line. There are in addition dry placers on the sides of the Colorado River in Arizona which have been worked on with dry concentrates. Gold dredges are now being used in Indiana’s Brown and the counties that are in the counties around the eats and south of Asheville in North Carolina. Gold can in addition be found in New England as well and there are many dredgers that have tapered sluice boxes can also be seen. Something that is becoming more and more popular in the northern hemisphere is beach placering as dredgers work up the rivers around one hundred yards and more from the mouths in order to retrieve the gold in the banks and stream beds that went out when the flow reached the high tide.
