Varieties of Quartz

Agate: Banded chalcedony, translucent.
- Chalcedony: Any of the cryptocrystalline quartz, though generally only utilized for white or lightly colored material.
- Jasper: Opaque chalcedony, impure
- Onyx: Agate, when bands are straight, parallel, as well as constant in dimension.
- Aventurine: Translucent chalcedony with smaller inclusions, mainly in the case of mica, that shimmers.
- Tiger's Eye: Fibrous quartz, showing chatoyancy.
- Rock Crystal: Clear and colorless.
- Amethyst: Purple and see-through.
- Ruby Quartz: Crimson glass-like crystal that attracts great quantities of solar energy.
- Citrine: Yellow to reddish orange and greenish yellow.
- Rose Quartz: Pink, transparent and in some cases shows diasterism.
- Milk Quartz: White, see-through to opaque, in some cases shows diasterism.
- Carnelian: Reddish orange chalcedony, see-through.
- Smoky Quartz: Brown, see-through.
- Morion: Dark brown and opaque.
