The Shape of a Coil or Loop

When the detectors that detected gold only came out they only had one specific loop design. These were made to be able to cover more ground for the targets that were smaller and they were very efficient. These had the design of the conventional rounded loops that had been extended at the ends to provide an oval shaped coil and it was very accepted and liked by prospectors. Later on another shape was introduced which had a rectangular loop and again this one worked well too and was liked. Obviously this gave way to many new units which a lot of companies adopted and which are the more modern ones. These types of loops come in many different sizes ranging from six inches to fifteen inches. The one that the prospector chooses will depend on the size of the targets he or she is planning on looking for and the stretch of land that is going to be looked into.

Autotune or S.A.T.
Remember that a self adjusting threshold is vital when it comes to the design of a prospecting unit. Remember also that the sound is a very important part of a detecting unit as well and it needs to remain smooth or consistent so that the prospector is able to hear the signal for the smaller pieces of gold. If the detecting unit does not have any form of autotune or S.A.T. in it, the threshold sound will not remain stable and will alternate when the loop is being passed over ground, especially in much mineralized grounds. The problem that occurs when the threshold sound changes is that it can obscure interrupt the soft sounds of the smaller targets. The autotune or S.A.T keeps the sound or hum more constant and is able to detect cases of highly mineralized grounds. In general it is suggested to always use the autotune feature when prospecting, specifically if smaller nuggets are being searched for and the ground is constantly changing. Autotune is very important when looking into obtaining a good gold prospecting detector.
