The Orocopia Mountains
The Orocopia Mountains is part of the district of Dos Palmas and some small amounts of gold have been found here. There used to be a number of quartz veins that had some gold in them that were worked on in the 1890’s. the Orocopia Mountains are located on the northwest side of the Chocolate Mountains.
The Chuckwalla Mountains The Chuckwalla Mountains are located on the northeast side of the Chocolate Mountains. It was first seen that this place had gold in it in the 1800’s and the mines were once worked on until the beginning of the 1940’s. The quartz veins used to be very rich in some areas and at times silver, copper, lead as well as gold has been found. It is said that there was once a prospector that hid a couple sacks of gold nuggets in these mountains and that they were the same type of nuggets that Peg Leg Smith had.
The Mule Mountains This area has not been worked on for a good number of years now. The Mule Mountains are located on the southwest side of Blythe and in the past the source of production consisted of copper in quartz veins in granitic rocks.
