It is very common for searches to be done in absolutely virgin areas. There generally exists at least an outline of a geological map where the indications have been signaled from interesting minerals. This first phase, generally developed by the national geological services, can be denominated as the “Exploration Phase” and is normally done on a scale of 1:500.000 o 1:200.000. The prospecting of a region is then decided in function of the results obtained after the exploration. There are two cases that can come up:  

• First case: during the exploration phase no indications have been found, but by analogy with the neighbor regions, the geological and structural conditions are favorable to the presence of interesting mineralization. In this first case the objective of the general prospecting is that of looking for indicators that have importance that will be verified as they go getting discovered. The adopted scale is generally that of 1:100.00 or 1:50.000.
• Second case: indicators have been found during the second phase of exploration. The program of the general prospecting has been fixed in function of these indicators in relation to the geological formations and the tectonics of the region. The objective of this prospecting is that of verifying the value of the indicators and, in function of the data that has been obtained, look for others. In this case the adopted scale will go from 1:25.000 to 1:10.000.
