Suction Pumps

A suction pump can be useful as it can be used to get the material out of the crevices and they can also be used for searching the upstream side of rocks that are on a creek bed and any other tasks that are similar. There are also professional suction pumps that you can invest on but they do not come cheap. If all you have is a hand operated suction pump there is a way to use it.

You can buy a suction pump or a grease gun in automobile supply stores. They come in all different types, for example there is one that is a grease gun and can be used to spurt grease into different areas of an automobile while there are also others that are useful to suck oil out of the transmission or motor of an automobile. Both of these can be used to get the material out of the crevices however don’t use a used suction pump or grease gun as this will only cause the gold to hide more in the oil and grease.

Using either one of these tools is useful because they work like a big hypodermic needle as you will be able to pull out the handle in order to suck up the material from the crevices and then you can push on the handle in order to squeeze out the gold into the plastic container you have. In order to for this to work better it is suggested you use a piece of plastic tubing over the nozzle, so that you can get down inside the crevice of the rock. There are also different sizes of tubes you can use and this all depends on what you want to work with. Another thing is that in general these things will all work better if everything is wet; working on dry materials has not proven to work very well so we suggest you use enough water in order for everything to be liquidy and so that it flows better.
