Stay away from work that is not focused on the increasing of ore reserves
Once having gotten the results that the deposit has economic amounts of ore, a buyer would rather manage in his own way a lot of the problems that he faces on the way from discovery to production. For the most part, a company will not agree to pay for mining facilities, long cross cuts in ground that is barren to get to ore that is at great depths, haulage roads and such obstacles that do not raise the value of the market. The only way in which those items will be worth it, is when a property is getting sold as a mine that is completely equipped, fully developed and is set up and ready for production. There are a lot of long term plans that are put out when the exploration is in process, and these plans are continuously being checked as new information comes out to the light. If a prospector does not have a lot of funds, he should focus on the development of as much ore as possible with the least amount of expenditure as is possible. There are some things that can raise the value of a deposit; some of these things include trenching, drilling, sampling and underground work. The first job however, should be focused and limited to the best areas of the deposit. If there is more capital to work with then more work can be done in the secondary areas.
Stay on top of the details The sample locations need to be well marked and the sketch maps need to be kept track of to show where the samples were taken from. The type of sample that was taken should be included in the information that is written down. Something else that is important is the width of the sample as well as the assay results all of which are essential. Another thing to remember is that when assay reports do not have specific information on how and where a sample was collected, they are thrown out the companies that are looking for precise and meticulous information. Make sure to also point out the name of the assaying firm and to obviously use the services of a competent, reputable industry recognized assayers. It is possible that drilling programs will be necessary in order to demonstrate the existence of correct tonnages of ore. The location and direction of every hole will need to be the result of cautious planning. The information that is obtained will only be worthwhile and valuable if there is organization in the logs of the holes that were made. The cores, cuttings and so forth need to be labeled and then saved in accordance to the hole number and the depth of the hole as well. Whenever the grade or tonnage is calculated from accurate hole data the percentage of the recovery of ore is a very essential factor. The correct locations of the core holes will need to be determined. Once again, it will be important to have sketches that will show the location of the holes and where they should be made if possible. It is also good to have sketches of the sections that go down the lengths of holes. Ore at the surface can be exposed through the use of trenches and pits. The worth of the work will be seen through showing the precise locations of the excavations as well as the sketches of each trench or pit that is made. Another thing that can be very helpful is aerial photos like maps when they are enlarged, and they can also be used as the base for an overlay.
