Sluices of Labyrinth

Developed initially in Egypt by engineers of the Egyptian nuclear commission (Nasser) to separate heavy sediments or mineral particles contained in a pulp in movement and in a definite fluid.

It was designed with the base on the laws of Stokes, Newton and Reynold, and the second law of movement, intervening as factors:

  • Speed and diameter of the particles;
  • Resistance to the movement of particles;
  • Specific weight;
  • Viscosity of the fluid;
  • Constants and factors of correction.

In the practice, the recuperation got to 85% and the volume of the processed pulp within the order of 5 tons/hour, giving as a result their limits for treating larger volumes which would optimize its results.
