SCALING AND DESIGN OF CYANIDATION PLANTS

Scaling means passing from a small state to a bigger state. Beginning with this idea can be indicated that there are until three types of scaling for a plant. First, when everything starts from zero; second, when there is a plant in operation with a specific installed capacity which is optimized in order to have a better treatment, and finally, when there is a plant working too and is wished expand its capacity of treatment in order to have the same or better metallurgical results.

The start point for any design of a cyanidation plant is know the behaviour of the auriferous ore to be treated, thus we will know the possible problems that can appear during the metallurgical process and know the gangue minerals and its implications. For this, it is necessary make a mineralogical analysis of the ore. It's very important that the sample from the deposit to be mined can be representative of all the ore body.

The subject will be focused on cyanidation plants. How the condition of gold is will give any tips for the plant design. Other point to consider that will oblige to opt for any process is the economic expectation of the investment. This includes the amount of money necessary for getting rentability. It’s important be in the point where with the less investment we can get the best rentability, and this does not imply the maximum recovery.
