Sampling Booklet

Each sample that is sent to the laboratory will logically need to be numbered. As has been seen with the petrographic samples, there are various methods however this depends on the demands of the mission. Each prospector will also need to write down in an appropriate booklet, possibly two copies by using carbon paper, what is detailed in the following:

• Sample number
• Name of the sector or area
• The most precise localization as possible of the site: besides the geographical coordinates, also locate it in base of the toponymy of the area.
• Write, if the determination is possible, the nature of the taken sample, maybe labeling it with a question mark if the determination is unknown of.

For the samples destined to the analysis of the sampling the method of sampling is also indicated and the original weight of the sample (even an estimated amount). It is always better to place the samples, especially those that are from loose material, in two coverings with a plastic card indicating the number, between one covering and the other, besides writing it on the outside with a permanent marker.
