Requirements for Prospectors under Prospectors’ Assistance Program

  •

Prospectors are required to spend at least sixty days prospecting inside of the territories during the fiscal year where assistance is requested, even though in some very outstanding cases they might get only limited assistance if they are not able to carry out the full sixty days in the field because of reasons that are out of their control.
  • Prospectors need to let be known to the Board, in a confidential way, where the camps are going to be set up. They also need to know if they are going to move from one place to the other, and need to tell the Board of any changes in the location of the camp so that they can be found during the trips of inspection. The focus needs to be placed on the search for new showings. Assistance, nonetheless, can be provided to a prospector that is exploring an occurrence of minerals on claims that he has recorded during his participation or previous participation in the Prospectors’ Assistance Programs.
  • Prospectors are required to keep a daily dairy of the activities that have been carried out and add in sketches and maps that show the occurrences of minerals, the location of trenches and drill holes as well as any other physical work that has been carried out. At the ending of the season, the diary will be given to the Review Committee with the maps, sketches, and any other relevant information. These submissions need to be given to the Review Committee by the 1 of March of the fiscal year and assistance is required. The diaries will be given by the Board. Prospectors are allowed to stake claims at their own cost during the time they are assisting, and the government will not claim interest or ownership on these personal claims.
