Reading Search Prospector Gold Maps

When the results of the sampling tests are written down or recorded in a systematic way on the prospectors map, a pattern usually starts to show up. This pattern however does not always go along with the search line and in many cases will cut at a very defined angle. When this type of pattern shows up, you will know that it is the moment to start up a new search line.

Learning how to read these search lines can be quite tricky in itself and if the prospector has any questions as far as the pattern or angle of accumulation then he should take a separate group of samples from the following regular base line in order to decisively set up a pattern and course.

In most cases a pattern or course will develop which slants towards a different high point. It is possible that it will point straight towards this high point but if two ground slopes crisscross or if one of them has turned into the main one, the pattern might go down the hill in equal directions. When this type of pattern has come about, the immediate land in the direction it slopes needs to be checked for a possible new high point. After this a different search line needs to be drawn from the high point to a point inside the pattern and a new search triangle also needs to get drawn and the process then begins all over again.

It is possible you will need to start various new search triangles when you are in a long search, especially if it is on a gentle slope to start out with.

Soon enough there are a couple different things that could come about. You might either see gold in the sampling device a lot and in such an amount that you will know that you have found the original source or it will start to reduce a lot and this will indicate that you have gone out too far in which case you will then need to retrace your steps by making a careful search for the outcrop. Outcrops are not an easy thing to deal with however, we will get into this a little later on, before we do though, we will give you a few more indications on how to do the tracking search.
