Prospectors’ Incentive Plan in Saskatchewan

There is a Prospectors’ Incentive Plan (1972) that was established by the Department of Mineral Resources in Regina, Saskatchewan and it was set up to motivate the active participation of native and other northern residents into the exploration and development of mining in the north of Saskatchewan. Besides training the inhabitants of the north area that were interested through prospecting schools, the program is pushed by supported these people in active prospecting and claim staking in the north area of Saskatchewan. The prospecting teams that participate in the Plan are put in determined area depending on the favorable geology, structure of the place and mineralization, and every once in awhile in districts in which mineral occurrences have been previously seen by the prospector while involved in additional activities. Any person living in the north area of Saskatchewan that is interested in doing prospecting can participate in it. To apply the interested will need to fill out an application to the Director, Prospectors’ Incentive Plan, Department of Northern Saskatchewan, La Ronge, Sask. Under this Plan, nonetheless, it is necessary for the individual to agree to prospect with a partner he himself chooses. Once in awhile, when a bigger area is to be prospected on it is necessary to pick out four or more prospectors to work out of one main camp. It is better in fact, to have more than one person working in a specific area given that single person parties tend to be more costly. With the Prospectors’ Incentive Plan agreement the prospector will be paid a monthly wage while he is on the field and will be given all of the necessary field equipment, transportation etc. If the discovery of a mineral is made on the field and seems to be worth exploiting, on the suggestion of the Minister or a qualified representative, the ground will be staked on behalf of the Department of Northern Saskatchewan.
