If you do not own or have access to a discriminator or an identifier you will need to learn how to do this discrimination yourself if you are interested in those nuggets and you will need to learn how to interpret targets; and keep in mind obviously, if you are ever in doubt, you should beyond a doubt dig it out to see. Remember also that there is not a machine that does the job entirely when it comes to different detectors. Remember also that the size of a nugget as well as the depth it is in inside the ground can still cause a detector to not make a good reading. Another good way also to check to see if the detector you have is trustworthy is by doing a few nugget tests on the ground. A number of the different kinds of places you can go to in order to locate gold for example is the top of the ridges of mountains where the winter and spring rains took care of washing off some of the overburden. You can also go to the spring and river banks. Some well-situated areas to go to are the areas where the bedrock is crumbly and where crevices and cracks are very obvious since these types of places produce gold. Don’t forget also to look under the limbs of bushes etc. and consider that all of this can be done more simply with a small loop. Keep in mind that detectors that are used exclusively for gold prospecting are to a certain extent similar in how they need to be controlled and operated. Clearly in order to learn how to use and operate them exactly, will need to be discussed directly with the manufacturer and you should also be sure to read and then re-read the factory manual. There are two fundamental kinds of detectors that are by and large used, and these consist of the purpose discrimination and some of them have a meter or screen on it in order to help you be able to make out targets that have been discriminated.
