Permanent Placers
Permanent pocket placers are the ones that can be found at bedrock. Permanent placers are in general the most ancient of the modern day placers; in most cases they are not under twenty five years old and in many cases over a hundred years or more. These are more easily preserved since the stream rarely reaches bedrock during flood stage. These types of pocket placers have in general been the richest and offer more gold than the other type. The only problem with this kind of placer is the amount of sand that needs to be removed in order to get to the gold. Bedrock is in a lot of cases around sixty or more feet deep and is not usually closer than twenty-five feet, so good luck with all that digging. It is not common for amateur prospectors to venture into large bedrock placers unless they have three ore more people with them and a dredge that is at least six inches big. |
