Other Prospecting Needed Items
Insect repellent Even though this might seem like a very simple item, insect repellent is essential whenever going on a prospecting trip. This is actually so necessary that it should be kept in the prospectors vest. Remember that there are certain areas where insects will literally attack and having to deal with them can be very troublesome. Mosquitoes can be extremely annoying, especially if the prospecting is being done very early in the morning or when the sun is going down. Insect repellent can also ward off insects like ticks, which are not only bothersome but that can also cause terrible diseases and these can be completely avoided by simply using repellent, the right clothing, and boots. One other very important item to include is sunscreen lotion.
Plastic containers After having effectively found a small or big size gold nugget, it is important to have a good place to place and keep it in. There are diverse types of containers that can be used but a very good one is the 35 mm one given that it has a good opening. One thing that is recommended when searching for a container for the gold, is to stay away from the glass ones; there is simply too much of a possibility of them breaking and the chances of losing the findings of the day are a lot higher. Evidently if a bigger sized gold nugget or piece that is found is very big, the prospector can just place it in his pocket, but the smaller ones will be safer inside a plastic container.
Shovels A shovel is one of the most basic tools for every type of prospecting or mining, whether it is placer or lode. A shovel is very essential and will help the prospector be able to dig up dirt into his pan. There are a couple of basic types, one of these has an extended handle and the other has a smaller handle. The long handled one is easier on one’s back; on the other hand the shorter one is more suitable when it comes to moving around and carrying it. It is also recommended you have a hand garden trowel with you as it will help you be able to get to those places that are difficult to get to.
