Once you find Gold, how do you get it out?
All right so lets pretend that you have already prepared yourself for your new adventure and exploit and that you have already found the location you are interested in going to with a handy dandy map of some gorgeous mountains. So what do you need to do now?
Mind you that the people that are interested in taking this on either as a weekend thing or as something a bit more serious, need to be aware of the traveling and the camping that type of country requires and you should also be well aware of the type of equipment and clothing you will need to take along with you. So what are the essential things needed for those that are hunting for gold?
Basic Equipment for Gold Hunting
- Make sure to get a gold pan for each person that is going to be going with you on the expedition.
- You are going to need a small shovel or a very big trowel to scoop the pay dirt into the pan.
- Make sure you have a rock hound hammer.
- Some bottles to place the findings into.
- You can get a plastic classifier with half inch diameter holes in it.
- You will need two, five gallon buckets.
- You will also need around two plastic containers that have a wide mouth on them.
- A camel’s hair brush as well as a magnet, a magnifying glass and a compass.
- Get a few crevice scrapers.
- You should use a suction pump.
For those that are serious about getting into this sort of thing we suggest you additionally take along these things:
- You will need a pickaxe to adequately stir up the ground you are working on.
- You will also need a sluice and or a rocker.
- You will also need a little bag in which to put your secret treasures.
Even though this might seem like a good amount of stuff to invest on, the truth is that it is not that much in comparison to all the things you could get now. We suggest you try getting this list at first and then when you are ready and more familiar with everything you can invest a bit more on it.
Obviously out of all these things (and your clothing) the most important thing in this type of adventure is to have a gold pan. A gold pan is a must. A gold pan has the aspect of a dishpan that has been flattened out. The sides of a dishpan slope up at an interesting angle but the reason for this is to allow the gravel that is not wanted and water to slurp over the edge. This allows it to stay clean so that it is easier to see and so that the gold does not get covered in flecks of rust. Gold flakes are very small and if you think you can see them but are not sure, just use the magnifying glass as this will help.
