Gouge: Fine, gooey material that is made up of rock that has been ground up along a fault.
- Grab sample: A sample from a rock outcrop that is assayed to settle on if precious elements can be found in the rock.
- Graben: A down faulted block of rock.
- Granite: A coarse grained intrusive igneous rock that is made up of quartz, feldspar and mica.
- Gravity meter, gravimeter: An instrument that is used for measuring the gravitational attraction of the earth as this differs depending on the density of the rocks that are around it.
- Greenstone belt: An area that has metamorphosed volcanic and sedimentary rocks underlain, typically in a continental shield.
- Grizzly: Grating generally made out of steel rails and that is put over the top of an ore pass or a chute so as to stop bigger sized piece of ore or rock that could hang up in the pass.
- Gross value royalty: A share of gross revenue that comes about from the selling the minerals from a mine.
- Grouting: The process of sealing off a water flow in rocks by forcing a thin slurry of cement or other chemicals into the crevices; usually done through a diamond drill hole.
