Methods of Mining in Auriferous Beds of More Than 20 Meters of Thickness

The exploitation of auriferous beds in some areas which have a heavier thickness than that of 20 meters, one can perform in progressive stages of dredging depending on the size of the crissum’s, but also it can be performed by using heavy equipment in the movement of the land and the canals of riflery or rocky or portable gravimetric plants in the concentration.

The methods of mining presently used in the exploitation of some areas, topic of the present work, are:

Handcraft method (recuperation 50% – 60%)

Movement of land: monitors

Concentration: rocky canals and riflery

Semi-mechanized methods (recuperation 60% - 70%)

  • Movement of land: truck, frontal carrier, tilt cart.
  • Concentration: Trommel, riflery canals.

Mechanized methods (recuperation 70% - 80%)

  • Movement of land: truck, retro digger.
  • Concentrations: portable plants with jig.

In the methods of mining mentioned we use drilling and explosion for the removing of the material. For the evacuation of the thick material (second sweeping) in the semi mechanized and mechanized methods, we use a locomotive with a wagon.

The use of heavy equipment and moving plants establishes the necessity of optimizing its use to justify its investment.

 Auriferous Beds
In the auriferous bed of some areas which have been worked since unmemorable times, we can observe diverse operations of extraction of gold, from the simple beater to those which use heavy equipment in the movement of the material and mobile plants with jigs in the concentration, and in a near future there will be one dredge of buckets of water wheels will be in operation which will work on more than 3,000,000 m3 per year of auriferous material.

The present work will mention briefly of the description of the mining operations in some specific areas.
