Means of Communication

This problem needs to be studied a bit before start up, such as in the work area, for the permission of the local authorities. There are three different types of communications that can be considered which are:

  • Through postal service (telephone or telegram): with the common network
  • Through direct contact: communication by boat, car, plane etc.
  • A private radio channel: this implies having the authorization, a schedule and a procedure that needs to be respected (information from direct telecommunications). A frequency needs to be defined and it must then be rigidly respected.

Radio communications usually imply an operator with a national license. The authorities often times accept operators that do not have a license, as long as they use an international procedure. In all the cases, it is necessary to become informed and learn how to use the correct material. In the case that it is necessary to communicate with an air plane it might also be convenient to know the international ground and air signals.
