Hip mount kits
There are diverse types of carrying options that are available with all the different brands of detectors that exist. A lot of them have the control box adjusted on the belt around the waist and just the arm piece connected to the loop is swung over the ground. If you are intending on getting a multipurpose detector, keep in mind that it is larger and much bulkier and for this reason they are usually adapted with hip mount kits so the prospector is more comfortable and to make it easier to work with. Most of these kits are not too expensive and are a good option to invest it. Keep in mind that detectors that are used specifically for gold prospecting are quite similar in how they need to be controlled and operated. Obviously in order to learn how to operate them adequately will need to be discussed directly with the dealer and the factory manual also needs to be thoroughly studied.
Remember that all the equipment and tools that are mentioned are very important if a prospector is seriously considering this type of work. Obviously, there are many other items that can be purchased as well and that are useful. Keep in mind that nuggets are always located in isolated areas such as in deserts, canyons and forests and these places can often times be very dangerous if one is not adequately prepared and equipped. Certain areas are not as dangerous or difficult to work in such as beaches and parks. But it is important to take precautions when going to the more dangerous areas.
Special vehicles for prospecting It is highly suggested to have a good vehicle when traveling into prospecting areas such as a four wheel drive, especially in mountain and desert areas. Remember that these types of areas usually consist of gravel and dirt roads, however many areas are often times flooded or washed out etc, and taking a standard vehicle therefore is not suggested. Having vehicle problems will ruin a prospecting trip. Four wheel drive vehicles can sometimes run into problems with getting stuck in the mud etc, so they should always have a proper winch. Another item that is highly recommended is a ground anchor especially for desert areas where there are not many trees. A prospector’s vehicle should in addition have all the necessary survival gear such as a tow chain, shovel, axe, cable, tools, a CB radio etc. Drinking water is also essential especially in desert areas.
