Gypsum
There are most likely not any big deposits of gypsum that have not been claimed as of now and the bigger and well established companies have searched for them. The commercial deposits usually occur in huge beds of sedimentary rock but they can also occur as crystals in clay as well as in crystallized cavities in limestone. In nature gypsum can usually be found in a white color, however they can also be found in yellow, red or brown. Gypsum is very soft and can be scratched very easily. Graphite has a silky luster to it, has a hardness of 2, and a specific gravity of 2.3. Some of the uses of gypsum are for drywall, it also an ingredient in plaster, a fertilizer and soil conditioner, it also used as a tofu coagulant and can be used to add harness to water that is utilized for brewing. |
