Gravity does the Work

To wash the carpets the 2/4 are changed and the plates taken up. Each punch plate should be delicately brushed off over the carpet, to make sure that any gold sticking to it is gather. Then the carpets are rolled up and put into containers. Concern must be taken at this time that the material on the carpet is not knocked off and lost. Any substance which has been gathered under the rugs is brush up and put into the containers. Wash rugs are put is then down, the punch plates changed and pulled down firm with 2/4. Circulation air and heat can be used to quickness this process .when the rugs are fully dry they are put into a turning tumbler along with hard pieces of rubber .The rubber pieces fall beside the rugs as they spin , serving to knock gold ,sand iron from the rugs. A tumbler 3 feet in distance and 3 feet long will contain 3 rugs, each 30 inches wide and 8 feet long.

The turning drum of the tumbler should be a stainless brace punch plate with quarter inch holes in it. The substance exceed over these holes after going out of the carpet. A hopper to gather the material can be built under the tumbler. The tumbler should be strongly made so that no dust leaks from it when the rugs are being tumbled. If not the area will be so dust filled it will look like a Mojave Desert dust storm.

The following operation in the gold clean up is to put all the material improved from the rugs across a directed table .Materials are divided according to their exact gravity on the directed  table .To the layman a directed table might be said to be a controlled mechanical panning machine. Of course it is  more fast and able than a man panning gold.  On the table one has control of the quantity of water being used ,the sum of material being put on the table ,the size of the material ,the rate of the tables pulsation ,and the total control of the pitch or angle of the table.
