Gravimetric Section of Washing or Processing
The processing of the suctioned material and the recuperation of the gold in the content it is effectuated through a system of wooden sluices, conveniently disposed according to the following detail:
- the suctioned material is poured through the discharge hose in a mill hopper of thick material or a reception box of 1.24 x 0.60 x 0.40 m., which takes in one of its faces of the lattice of iron bars of ½” in the shape of a crib with a separation of ½” between bars.
The function of this lattice or crib is the elimination of the thick material, which falls directly to the river, passing the fine ones to the systems of sluices.
- the fine material coming from the mill hopper of thick pass through two sluices of 3.80 x 2.20 x 0.14 m. disposed in counter pendent.
These sluices are conditioned in their bottom, with plastics and burlap of jute and wooden rifles, equidistant 45 cm. between each other. The gradient of the sluices varies between 12° - 15°. The recuperation of fine gold is effectuated in its most part in the first slues, not knowing the rafters of total recovery of the system, due to the fact that as we have mentioned it does not effectuate any control of technical character during the process.
Nevertheless, according to experiences of washing in similar systems, we estimate that the total recovery is of the order of 60% to 70%.
- at the end of the day’s work the fine material deposited in the sluices is recollected in plastic tubs, proceeding to its refining and amalgamation in containers. The amalgam is refogated for the obtaining of gold bullion.
