If you plan to go gold prospecting you should consider going the number one gold prospecting club the GPAA. The Gold Prospectors Association (GPAA) was founded in 1968 to preserve and promote the great heritage of the North American Prospector. The GPAA was also dedicated to providing a platform for the exchange of information, presenting an organized voice for recreational and professional prospectors and helping its members find more gold. Of course anyone who pans for gold or does any gold prospecting with the GPAA hopes to be rewarded by the glitter of colors in the fine material collected in the bottom of the pan. Although the exercise and outdoor activity experienced in gold prospecting are fun and rewarding, there are few thrills comparable to finding gold. Even a preliminary test report showing an appreciable content of gold in a sample obtained from a lode deposit is exciting. The would-be prospector going gold prospecting even with the GPAA hoping for financial gain, however, should carefully consider all the pertinent facts before deciding on a prospecting venture. The lack of outstanding success in spite of the great increase in prospecting during the depression in the 1930's confirms the opinion of those most familiar with the occurrence of gold and the development of gold mining districts that the best chances of success lie in systematic studies of known productive areas rather than in efforts to discover gold in hitherto unproductive areas. The development of new, highly sensitive, and relatively inexpensive methods of detecting gold, however, has greatly increased the possibility of discovering gold deposits which are too low grade to have been recognized earlier by the prospector using only a gold pan. Today, the GPAA has become the world's largest prospecting organization, but our goals haven't changed one bit. Through television, the Internet and print media, the GPAA today provides more information and is a more effective organized voice than ever before. GPAA programs provide places to go, local support, free information service and much more. And for those who want to really do some exciting gold prospecting with the GPAA you should sign up for the GPAA's Alaska Expedition which is a unique, annual Far North wilderness experience. Ever since 1982, the Gold Prospectors Association of America has been taking its members north to wild and wooly mining camps on the Seward Peninsula, which is always a memorable experience, but not for the squeamish or faint-hearted prospector. |
