Choosing the camp site
Becoming informed of the most favorable area for the set up of the base camp that is close to a means of communication, a supply center and a source of water (if possible) is recommended. Check to see if the camp can be done inside a building, with a small store that allows the storing of material in an enclosed area that can be closed with a lock and key. If it is possible, choose a nice set up area, that is free, shady, and that has the possibility of being fenced up if necessary. Study the medical and sanitary infrastructure of the area, in the case of an accident, as well as the sanitary evacuation modality by the quickest means (this can be close to a landing area, if it is possible to put it into service, dispose of ground-air signals etc). Adequacy of the base camp
The base camp will need to be as comfortable as possible. If night time rest is guaranteed, the daily output will be better. Therefore it will be necessary to have:

• A refrigerator and freezer (gas or petroleum)
• Gas stove
• Beds or bunk beds with pillows, sheets, and mosquito nets
• Fold up chairs
• Potent lighting and generator
• Bathroom areas with showers and isolated sanitary areas that are regularly disinfected and cleaned, where waste is removed and buried. 
• Drawing tables built with big planks of wood.
• Small stores for materials with shelves (built out of bamboo and liana or planks).
• Small grocery stores that are well designed and isolated from parasites such as insects, rodents, ants, etc. with motor oil or diesel, every day.
• Canisters of air fuel that is protected from the direct sun with a canopy, making sure other objects are not too close or too far to avoid robberies.
• Provide an inclined plane for the loading of fuel and a trench to work under the vehicles.
• The accommodations of the personnel, if there are not any buildings, requires of big tents that have a thick doubled layer and a big canopy, mounted in groups or isolated according to the preferences of the people. In the cases where work is being done in desert and very warm areas it would be advisable to always count on campers that are transportable, illuminated and acclimatized with a generator. These are also advisable in the case of jobs that take a great amount of time such as in drilling jobs and tactical prospecting.
• The area of the living room, dining room and kitchen can be positioned under a cloth roof if possible a double roof or recovered with branches and stakes for protection against the sun in the hottest hours of the day.
