Gold Panning Opportunities
In most opportunities, when a lot of equipment is taken on a prospecting trip a gold pan is used mainly to determine if there indeed is gold and then it is not used anymore if the goal is to find a worthwhile or significant amount of gold. There are as a matter a fact, different ways in which this can be done which we will be getting into further ahead. Gold pans however, should always be used as they are one of the best instruments for letting you know and determining if there is indeed the presence of gold, as a result it is suggested to first pan instead of trying to look for the gold with a hand lens etc. Panning is ideal given that you are able to and should pan anything that shows indications of mineralization, therefore if you see rust or quartz, pan it. In the case of rusty material, you can usually scrape up a good amount without too many problems. If you run into rusty material that is solid though, you will need to pick out a sample in order to grind it in a mortar before panning it. In the case of quartz it will also be necessary to grind it before panning it. In these kinds of cases, the quantity of the material that is going to be panned mainly depends on the amount of time that will be needed to grind it. If the material is difficult to grind, such as commonly occurs with quartz, choose the smallest pieces and the ones that look the most promising and work on those. These should grind up in a very little time and they will most likely be sufficient to give you a good idea on how much gold you will possibly retrieve. |
