Geological Aspects This deposit is made up of auriferous gravels that have a glacier origin with variable gold and heavy metals contents amongst these tin and tungsten. The glacier deposit mainly consists of non classified debris of semi rounded rock fragments, highly compacted sand and clay. The average in situ density is of 2.25 ton/m3. Under normal conditions the humidity varies from 10 to 15 percent. The sponging factors show a wide margin of variation, 45 percent for the loose material and 15 percent for the compacted material. The exploitation zone is part of a distant area of the moraine that has the shape of a curved dorsal with in the direction of N and E in the first thirds and E and W in the last third; in a transversal sector it is asymmetric with more slopes and drops on the north end. Lithologically the moraine consists in agglomerate constituted by blocks and somewhat rounded and angular fragments of slate and quartz lumped together in a sandy clayish matrix.
Metallurgic Aspects The recovery of gold glacier debris depends on a series of physical factors, amongst them the sizes, of the shape and liberation of the gold grains that are determined by a primary concentration of the in situ minerals and the transporting conditions. Other prominent factors include the character of the matrix rock and its type of decomposition, the amount and type of clay. In our auriferous deposit, the primary mineral configuration along with the primary mineral with the as well as the type of glacial transport over relatively short distances, as well as the environmental conditions, produced freed gold pebbles in a semi angular way and free of oxides.
