Free Gold Associated With Lateralization in Trinity-Siskiyou Counties, California

Jurassic ultra basic, residues of lateralized pleniranges and deposits of exceptional gold placing, such as the ones found in the Southwest of Oregon, also occur in the south, in the Siskiyou-Trinity of California. The residues of the peniranges in this area include: Pine Flat, 2,500 feet; Low Plateau, 2,600 feet; High Plateau 3,500 feet; Little Battle snake, 3,200 feet; Rattlesnake, 3,600 feet; and Red Mountain, 4,000 feet; as well as other four which conform with the requirements, but have not been mapped. These four can be found in the County of the North, to the north of the Klamath River and near to the coast.

Continuing towards the southeast, the area of Wearville, other residues of the penirange include the King Solomon Mine, 3,300 feet; and the Dog Paw laterite, 4,200 feet. There are also three such residues in the area of Cecilville in the drainage of the Solomon River and another in the Wildcat Creek to the west of the Callahan. All these residues of peniranges are auriferous. The King Solomon and the Wildcat Creek properties produced economically starting from the deposits of the lateritic grounds, a red color, and in a state of decomposition. None reflects a vein origin nor the characteristics of conventional gravel.

Thus the portion of Sierra Nevada in the direction of Oregon-Klamath-Sierra repeats certain basic conditions. The producing areas of gold occupy certain Triatic-Jurrasic directions of ultra basic intrusive, but only when they are under a peneplanation of the ultra basic masses. The purity of the gold is exceptionally high. In all cases, the production came in part from the structures of veins well developed in the Jurassic basic units and in part of the placing which represent the 60-87% of the total production of an area. The few isolated observations in the area of Klamath, concerning the concentrations of placing connected to the laterization; they can not be repeated for the Sierra, possibly due to insufficient work.
