Features that need to be covered when applying for a patent for a placer claim

  •

In cases in which the claim is for a deposit of placer gold, it will be necessary to provide the yield for every cubic yard as is shown in the prospecting and development work, as well as the thickness of the gold bearing gravels, the overburden thickness, the formation and extent of the deposit, and any other information that would indicate the value of the claim due to its deposits of placer gold.
  • It is evident one might run into another metal like that of platinum or silver during the process of prospecting for gold. If there is another deposit that does not consist of gold, it will be necessary to provide a full description on the amount, nature and extent of the deposits, and any other extra reasons why it should be thought of as a valuable mineral claim. The complete and natural features of the claim need to be entirely described. For example, provide an account to streams as far their course is concerned, the quantity of water it has in it, and fall inside of the claim. Another thing that will need to be indicated is the type and quantity of timber or additional vegetation and their adaptableness to mining and further uses.
  • In cases in which the placer claim consists entirely of placer ground, it will need to be indicated in the application as well as supported by reports that give proof. There are cases in which claims are mixed placer and lode, in which case it will need to be indicated, as well as a description of all the veins that are known to be positioned inside of the boundaries of the placer claim. A precise declaration needs to be furnished for ever lode that is intended to be claimed. Even if the lode is claimed or excluded, it is necessary for it to be surveyed or marked on the plat. It will be necessary for the field notes on the plat to separately give the area of the lode veins and the area of the placer ground. Any other lodes are ruled out by law from the claim made by the applicant, no matter what the nature, etc.
  • Considering that no other explanation and report by a mineral surveyor can be obtained in the case of claims that are taken by legal subdivisions, it will be necessary to give a detailed account of all the shafts, cuts, tunnels and any other workings that are claimed as improvements, and the dimensions, the value, course and distance to the nearest corner of the public surveys. All of these statements of proof need to be made in duplicate.
