Gold Panning
Every once in awhile you will want to tilt the front edge of the pan upwards and back towards you while you are at the same time shaking the pan very gently. This will allow the concentrates to group together back in the bottom of the pan and will allow the riffles to stop them when you tilt the pan forward again. Remember that the concentrates need to be covered in water at all times. As you continue doing this you should start noticing the gold. At this point you will also be able to tell which is the best movement in order to get them to sink down to the bottom.
You may also want to try by using a fore and aft motion, a pitching and tossing movement or any type of smooth motion, you can even come up with your own as long as it works and is smooth. Make sure you pan the discards or tailings again by this step because by this point you will not be able to recover what you get rid of.
