Experimental Tests
Sample Characterization The bulk concentrates of pyrrites and arsenopyrrites was one of the samples used for the experimentation. It was prepared obtaining representative samples for the different practices and tests performed.
Toasting Tests
Pilot Oven Batch of 18”
a) Description the pilot oven batch of the laboratory basically consists of two vertical bodies: the chamber of reaction and the chamber of combustion of butane propane gas. The chamber of reaction has a central axel to which a double arm of rakes is adapted which facilitates the remotion of the material to be toasted.
The control of the atmosphere is effectuated by the regulation in the feeding of gas and air. The control of the temperature is by means of thermocuplas located adequately in the interior of the chamber of reaction.
b) Tests of Toasting The first test consisted in a selective toasting in reductive atmosphere whose conditions were:
Work temperature range : 420°C – 625°C
1 Average : 0.84
Time of residence : 20.5 hr.
Velocity axel rotation : 5 rpm
Weight of the sample : 26.45 Kg.
The test number two was a selective toasting in reductory atmosphere, followed by oxidant toasting, whose conditions of operation were:
- Selective Toasting
- Temperature range : 420°C – 625°C
- 1 Average : 0.84
- Time of residence : 20.5 hr.
- Velocity axel rotation : 5 rpm
- Weight of the sample : 28.20 Kg.
- Oxidant Toasting
- Temperature range : 550°C – 600°C
- 1 Average : 2.34
- Time of residence : 7.5 hr.
- Velocity axel rotation : 5 rpm
