Equipment Gold Panning
The process of using mining equipment when gold panning like that of a gold pan is something that can easily be learned and a great activity to be enjoyed with the family. The necessary equipment for gold panning consists on having a gold pan, a shovel, a magnifying glass, a pair of tweezers and a small plastic vial in which to put your gold. Gold pans are simple to find and can be found at hardware stores, metal detector stores, rock shops and hobby shops. Gold pans work in conjunction with gravity due to the fact gold is nineteen times heavier the same amount in water; this means the gold goes down to the bottom of the pan. When panning in a stream try to find areas where there are rock crevices and anywhere the gold could have gotten trapped in. Place two big handfuls of material into the gold pan, then slowly submerge the pan in the stream. While holding the gold pan under the water, move the pan in a circular motion so that the lighter materials float out of the gold pan. Be careful with not going too quickly or gold might be lost in the process. Continue doing this until around half of the material in the gold pan has been eliminated. Next take the pan out of the water and start to make a swirling motion while tipping it a little to the side where the riffles are located. After all of the water has been eliminated, take it back out and begin to swirl it once again. This will need to be done until almost all of the material has been eliminated from the pan. Then use a small suction pipe to spray some water into the gold pan so as to separate any nuggets or gold flakes from the sand in the bottom of the gold pan. The little suction pipe can in addition be utilized to suck the gold flakes and place them into a container or a display vial. Keep in mind though that learning to use equipment for gold panning takes practice, keep trying. Nothing compares to finding some yellow in the bottom of a gold pan. |
