Dry Gold Panning

Dry panning or what is also known as dry washing also has its basic set of steps. One way this can be done (you will need a partner to help you) is by putting a blanket on the ground and shoveling some material you believe has gold in it onto the blanket. Each person will then need to grab on to the ends of the blanket and begin to steadily “pull” the blanket back and forth amongst them. This will cause the heavier gold particles to settle through the debris material. The debris that is on the top will then need to be picked off and the heavier concentrates should be put away. The concentrates will then need to be wet washed so they can be inspected more thoroughly.

If you intend to use a metal container or pan you will basically need to do the same thing. Simply shake the pan firmly and allow the lighter material to spill out of the pan. The heavier concentrates will then need to be put away so they can be wet washed and inspected more thoroughly.
