Description of the System of Observed Dredging
Given the characteristics of occurring of the auriferous deposits described, these come to be exploited by the method of dredging, using in this case the dredge by suction, which consists in picking up the auriferous material from the bottom of the rive by a wide suction tube and lift it unit it reaches the surface to pour it out in a system of sluices, through the use of a centrifuge pump denominated suction pump.
The joining of the equipment, machinery, and required accessories for implementing this system of exploitation conform what we denominate a unit of dredging by suction.
Dredge Unit by Suction
The dredge unit by suction, is basically composed by the following part or sections:
- Dredge section;
- Washing or gravimetric processing section;
- Navigation section.
The capacity of a dredge unit is given by the diameter of entrance of the suction pump which is related to the strength of the motor to be used. In the case which occupies us pumps of 5” or 6” were used, actioned by diesel motors of 18 HP and 36 HP, respectively.
Below we will briefly mention the process and equipment which every section of the unit of dredging composes.
