Color of a Gold Pan

Prospectors in the past used to “blue” their pans by burning them. This was done because it helped them be able to see the flour gold better; the reflection of the steel makes it difficult to see the gold as efficiently. After some research on the subject, it was discovered that green was the best color when it came to using gold pans. However, there are different green colored gold pans and if the green is light the sun has a tendency of adding a glare to it, on the other hand if the green is too dark, it looks black on cloudy days and will cause you to not be able to see the particles of gold that well. So far the best green that has been found for gold pans are those that have Kelly green because it has proven to have the best results. Another good thing about this color is that it is easy to identify other precious metals too such as platinum, garnets, sapphires etc. this is a great advantage to the prospector because it saves a good amount of time and it is safer and will bring about better results. Because of this, we recommend beginners use these type.
