Clark Mountains and the Mountain Pass Mine
The Clark Mountains are located on the north area of the Ivanpahs and have had gold in them since the beginning of the 1860’s. The Mountain Pass Mine is a big producer of the rare earth minerals. Gold can be found in quartz, barite as well as mineralized breccia.
Halloran Springs The Halloran Springs are located around twelve and a half miles east of Baker off of highway 15. there is a mine a couple miles away called the Telegraph Mine, which was discovered in 1930 and is located on the east side of Halloran Springs. The gold in this area can be found in quartz veins, some of which are very wide, and in areas there have been some rich finds. The Indians used to mine the turquoise deposits in this area for a long time in the past. On the north side you will find the Shadow Mountain District and even though this area has not had a great amount of return, there have been a few gold quartz veins located and worked on in the Shadow Mountains throughout the years.
Old Dad Mountains The Old Dad Mountains are located right on the south of the Halloran Springs. These were first worked on in the 1890’s and they had their best time of activity during the thirties and the beginning of the forties. Some high grade ore has been found in the area as well as some good sized veins, some were even up to six feet in size.
