Chisels and Wedges
There will probably be moments when you need to work in bedrock crevices and a pick chisel crevicer is the perfect tool for it. It is not a simple task to break down heavy bedrock with a trowel or a mayhoe. Keep in mind though that this is not a lightweight tool and it should only be carried when you have found an area that you are going to be working on in bedrock that is not decomposed. Decomposed rock is easier to break down with tools that are not as heavy. You may also want to consider getting a little crevice tool as well because these are very helpful for when you want to dig out or pull out teensy pieces of gold.
Chisels and wedges have been some of the most useful accessories lode prospectors have been using. There are different types of varieties that can be purchased in supply stores. Some have square points and are called gads, and there are other ones that are shaped like the normal chisel. Wedges can be utilized to split wood due to the fact that they are normally not used to cut but mainly for splitting rocks. Chisels can have a size of anywhere from six inches to several feet in length. Weight is a big thing when it comes to chisels and most of them are less than two feet in length.
Drills There are different types of drills but rock or star drills will only be needed if you are planning on doing some blasting on the lode operation you are doing. There are different types of power drills that can be purchased but they are not commonly used by people who are just making a hobby out of mining. If you do buy a drill make sure you get it sharpened often. Remember also that hand drilling a hole in rock can be a lot of hard work and will take a long time and usually it ends up discouraging the person trying to do so.
Reference Collection A reference collection of minerals is a good thing to have when doing a prospecting trip in particular in cases in which the identified minerals have been increased with other specimens that have gathered around in the area you are prospecting in. these have different prices and can be anywhere from a few dollars to several hundred dollars.
Scales There are a good number of amateur prospectors that have miner’s scales and there are different ones that are very sophisticated that can weight really light amounts while there are also others that are simple and are not expensive. The best are the balancing scales but there are several pendulum kinds that work well even though they do have a limited capacity. Due to the fact that amateur prospectors do not sell their gold unless they make a big find, the scales are usually used for their own personal use to see how much gold they have obtained.
Digging Pouch All prospectors with knowledge know how suitable it is to wear a pouch. A good digging pouch is a good idea for the reason that it serves as a place you can put you digging tools in and it also lets them to carry items they find and collect. There are many diverse sorts of digging pouches to be had and they come in special sizes and shapes and materials. Decide on the one that will prove most useful for you and evidently, the one you like best.
Trowels Another item that all gold prospectors know about are trowels for the reason that they are a very known of digging tool. There are a lot of diverse brands and types of trowels that can be purchased in different shapes and different sizes. If you are interested in finding one they can be found in hardware stores or nurseries as well. If you are looking into getting one that is not going to rust on you and that will last you just about a lifetime you should think about getting the stainless steel trowel. There are also trowels available that have serrated edges on them and these are really useful for those that are looking into cutting the base of a bush or small tree or anything else.
