Bucket Dredges
This constitutes of a mechanized systems of very excellent performance for the process of auriferous gravel in large amounts, mainly on the river beds, lakes and so forth. The costs of maintenance or investment should previously be studied and evaluated as well as the cubage and amounts of reserve that determine the feasibility and usage of these types of implements. The set up of a bucket dredge requires the usage of metallic pontoons; the head is guided by rotors over a chassis and moved by the top drum, submerged in the lower strand.
The material that has been extracted is unloaded to a rubbish dump or discharge canal with a chute, the thicker and larger sized materials of ½ inch are eliminated by bands, the auriferous material can be treated by sluices or Jig systems. The buckets are buckets of steel, the edges are cutters and they have exchangeable teeth. They usually work against the current, sweeping areas in which the centres are made up by the anchorage of up current water that is attached by a steel cable and lateral ties.
