Hypothetical general geological characteristics The recognized area forms part of the fluvial plain of the river basin and the banks of the river are made up of fluvial terraces that have a sandy and clayish make up, and gravel cannot be seen in them. The beaches are made up of benches of sand. This area characterizes itself due to the presence of docks made up by gravel benches that do not outcrop on the surface. The morphology described generates turbulences in the mentioned sector, impeding the normal flow of the waters, reason by which the river has formed channels out of which it flows at a greater velocity. The morphologic characteristics that have been aforementioned, have as it seems acted as natural traps that have favoured the depositing and concentration of auriferous gravel in the bottom of the river. The suctioned gravel is made up of smooth pebbles of 1 inch to 2 inches that are contained in a sandy matrix.
