Aircraft Transportation for Prospectors
Transportation by aircraft is known to be the greatest item of expense to prospectors in the area of northern California. To be able to keep control of airplane flight and to match the benefits for prospectors that are working in the more remote areas from key center of transportation, there are certain specific ways in which air travel is granted:
- The prospector will be allowed to take one trip at the starting of the season in order to set up the base camp. The starting point of the trip will be left to the judgment of the Prospectors’ Assistance Board. The starting point cannot be out of the region of the territories unless there is less of an expense for the prospector to set up the base camp from a different place; then, he will be able to take one trip back to the beginning point at the end of the season; and one service trip every month from the closest and most appropriate settlement or source of supply to the prospector’s base camp.
- If the traveling is to be done in a vehicle, an amount of 12c per mile will be permitted, however not an amount that goes above the amount previously calculated under the first three points be approved. Besides help with funds the prospector will be given without any charge; a safety flare kit with twelve emergency flares; topographic maps, claim maps, aerial photographs for the place is going to be prospecting in. in cases in where air photos are asked for, prospectors are asked to give enough time for these to be obtained from the Air Photographic Library.
