Air Hoses for Dredge
Another item in the Hookah air system is the air hose. The air hose is made out of a special type of vinyl plastic, and does not become affected by the effects of sunlight, gasoline, oil, and the general environment. Normal rubber hoses should never be used for diving because they will eventually weaken and will then become toxic.
The Hookah air hose normally has a diameter of three eighths of an inch on the inside and it is in made with an inner liner of food grade vinyl that is covered with a nylon webbing reinforcement and is covered with a strong PVC abrasion resistant wall. This type of hose has been designed to avoid kinking and collapsing which would prevent the air flow from passing through.
A good Hookah hose will have a bright yellow or orange color and this is done on purpose so that it can be seen. These hoses can also float on the water and this means that the excess hose that is not being used will float on the surface and will not be near the diver which makes it safer for the diver so that he does not get tangled up with it on the bottom. For instance if a person was diving in ten feet of water but were to be using an air hose that is twenty feet long, the excess ten feet would float on the surface and would not be near the person.
Good quality air will not let off any “taste” to the air and it should meet all of the FDA requirements.
